The Vision

Magnuson Park Theater is a community asset with a rich history. It’s been a hub for community since it began as a movie house for enlisted personnel on what was then a naval airbase during World War II. It evolved over time to broader uses after the base was decommissioned and it became part of Magnuson Park. The common denominator has always been bringing people together as a community to enjoy themselves and be enriched.

The vision for Magnuson Park Theater is to build on that capacity to contribute to community vibrancy. Renewing the theater so it can serve a broad range of purposes is crucial to realizing that vision. Community involvement in planning and implementing improvements is essential to a collective sense of connectedness to the theater and what it becomes.
