Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre
Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre was founded in 1997 as an after-school musical theatre program in the basement of a Baptist church in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood with just a handful of kids. Broadway Bound founder, Jimmy Nixon, was a performer from New York City who made his way to Seattle with his family via Los Angeles. Upon discovering that the type of musical theatre program he envisioned for his then 9-year-old daughter Ryah, a theatre kid who eventually went on to study theatre at Carnegie Melon University and perform on Broadway, did not exist in Seattle, he started Broadway Bound. In the over two decades that followed, until Mr. Nixon’s untimely death in 2019, he dedicated his life to building Broadway Bound’s capacity to nurture the artistic, social and emotional development of children ages 5 to 18 through participation in live musical theatre.
