Renewing an amazing historic theater for the entire community to enjoy.

Magnuson Park Theater is a community asset that belongs to all of us.

There’s nothing quite like Magnuson Park Theater. At least not in North Seattle.

It’s going to be a much-needed venue in North Seattle for all sorts of shows and gatherings - musicals and other theatrical productions, dance recitals, film showings, lectures, graduations and more. The theater was built in 1942 so before that vision can become reality, this aging gem will need significant TLC.

Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre is taking the lead on revitalizing Magnuson Park Theater but reimagining it to best serve the entire community requires a group effort. The Magnuson Park Theater Association is intended to bring together those interested in supporting renewal of this wonderful historic theater to maximize its benefit to and enjoyment by the community as a whole.

Becoming a member of the Magnuson Park Theater Association is a great way to support the revitalization of this amazing, historic theater. It’s free and as easy as clicking the button on the left. Being able to show evidence of genuine community interest in the theater when applying for grant funding to repair, renovate and update it is crucial - and you can help with that simply by signing up. Becoming a member will also allow us to keep you in the loop as progress on the theater is made. We’ll also be able to share other ways you may be able to help make Magnuson Park Theater everything it has the potential to become for our community.

Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre

Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre is taking the lead on revitalizing Magnuson Park Theater for all to enjoy. Broadway Bound realized a long-time organizational dream of having a home performance space upon signing a concession agreement with Seattle Parks & Recreation to manage and renovate Magnuson Park Theater in November 2022. While we consider Magnuson Park Theater our home, we don’t consider it exclusively “ours.” We see ourselves as stewards of this wonderful historic theater and we’re committed to working with the community to restore it and then creating access for other community organizations that will contribute to activating it as a vibrant hub for all sorts of interesting performances and presentations.

The Plan

Yes - of course - Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre is motivated to renovate Magnuson Park Theater for its own use, but we won’t be using it all the time and we haven’t forgotten how difficult it was to find great performance space in Seattle. That’s why our proposal to Seattle Parks included a strong commitment to ensuring access to the theater by other community groups in need of a venue. Our responsibility as stewards of this important public asset is at the heart of our plans for Magnuson Park Theater. We are excited by the idea of Magnuson Park Theater being full activated with a schedule that includes all sorts of events. Not just musicals and other theatrical productions, but film showings, poetry readings, lectures, graduations and the like. Our phased plan for renovating the theater will allow for input and frankly, as a small arts organization, we don’t have all the financial resources sitting around that doing the necessary improvements will require. We will need time for ongoing community-based fundraising and grant writing to secure funding for each phase of the work we have planned.

Share your ideas. Lend your support.

Broadway Bound is eager to learn more about those interested in using Magnuson Park Theater and to gain their input as renovation plans are crafted. Our firm belief in the theater as a community asset that should accommodate a wide variety of uses means we need to understand the needs and perspectives of other organizations and individuals who share our interest in using and enjoying Magnuson Park Theater. Help us determine the future of Magnuson Park Theater by connecting!
